After earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training from Salem State College, Mike’s career started with teaching the importance of physical fitness and how to improve athletic performance to many ages, athletes, and teams. Developing much of his training philosophy through formal athletic training modalities, and research in the Eastern European training philosophies, Mike has become recognized throughout the area as a leader in athletic performance and fitness training by applying scientifically proven training techniques with tried and true coaching skills.
Mike is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA, Member of IDEA, USA Hockey Certified Coach, Certified CT High School Coach, and Certified in CPR.

Michael Beavis has joined our team as the Administrative Assistant. Michael graduated in 2016 from Point Park University with a Master of Business Administration and graduated from Point Park University in May 2015 with a Bachelor Degree in Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management. He maintained a 4.0 GPA in the Master’s program while working as a Graduate Assistant and a Guest Relations employee at the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Michael is also a former collegiate rugby player and was a varsity athlete at Point Park University, throwing for their track and field team.
Coach / Food Coach
Nick Spoganetz is an all-around coach here at MB Sports. A 2016 graduate of Southern CT State University, Nick received his Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Exercise Science/Human Performance. His daily duties include working with our Tornado Training athletes, Sports Performance Athletes, Kids program, Teams, and Food Coaching. Nick helps our athletes elevate their game using creative and challenging workouts, consistent coaching cues, and proper nutritional guidance for maximal performance and recovery.
Jim has been working as a Physical Education and Health teacher since 2007. He has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Southern Connecticut State University and a master’s degree in Health Education from Southern Connecticut State University.He has been coaching High School Hockey since 2005 and boy’s lacrosse since 2011. He joined the MBST team in the spring of 2014 bringing his passion for exercise and well-being with him.
Christine is a graduate of Quinnipiac University receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Chris was a 4 year varsity athlete at Quinnipiac, playing for their division 1 field hockey team. She held a 4.0 grade point average while starting 17 of 18 games her senior year.
Along with coaching at MB Sports Training, Chris is a 6th grade teacher at Highville Charter School in Hamden.
